This is the easiest salad to make and can be easily done in a low fat and calorie version. A family favorite that has been on our Thanksgiving and Holiday table for at least 40 years, maybe longer. I remember my mom making this when I was a teenager in the 70’s. It’s still good!
Ambrosia Salad Recipe
1 Cup of each of the following ingredients:
Sour Cream – reduced fat or fat free is fine
Coconut – sweetened or unsweetened
Canned, drained Mandarine Orange Segments- I used packed in juice no sugar added
Canned, drained Pineapple chunks- I used packed in juice no sugar added
Red or Green seedless Grapes, halved
Combine all ingredients. Pour into your serving bowl and let the flavors combine and the marshmallows dissolve overnight. Serves 4-6. Double the ingredients for a larger group.
- The nice thing about this recipe is that you can make is lower calorie and carb by substituting a few ingredients with the low or non fat versions or unsweetened versions. The only non substituted item is the marshmallows. I haven’t found a sugar free variety for those yet 🙁
